MERIDEN - William B. "Billy" Higginson, 50, of Kensington, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009.

He was born in Meriden, May 3, 1959, a son of Joan Kline Higginson Gurecki, of Meriden and the late Burton Higginson Jr. He was raised in Meriden and was a Francis T. Maloney High School graduate. He had been a bartender at Bill and Nancy's, the Spot and J.C. Sports Bar, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New York Giants Fan.

He is survived by his two nieces, Victoria and Sarah; and his nephew, Nathan; and many friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jeffrey and Jonathan Higginson.

Friends will be received in The Wallingford Funeral Home on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, 06492. www.wallingfordfh.com.

We ARE planning a day in memory of Billy on Sunday August 2nd. There will be a meeting next week for those who are intersted in helping with the planning. The time and place will be posted here. The details for Aug. 2nd will be posted after the final plans are made. For now, save the date.

In the meantime, let's all send love & light to Billy who has finally had his wishes carried out and is in peace. For those of us who can make it to the calling hours on friday ...I think Billy would want us to be there to remember his heart and share our stories. I know it would make him sad to see us sad. For those of you that cant make it be assured August 2nd will be THE best memorial friends could give!

FINALLY...

FINALLY....some news.
We are hoping there will be an obiturary Tues in the R/J. Calling hours will be at Wallingford Funeral Home. A date for a "friends" gathering is in the works for August 2nd
More details will be posted asap.

Billy loved his Family Guy!

Still waiting to hear details about putting Billy to rest...

In the meantime I know we are all in limbo with our feelings.We all will deal in our own way. My gift back to him is doing things I believe would make Billy happy. I can assure you we have things in the works for a get together this summer...the goal will be a day of love and fun so He can look down and see us all together doing something for Him...

PLUS....we never did throw him a 50th Birthday party.
(ok, confession time, the party planner that I am is feeling guilty)

Any one that knew Billy, knew he was a HUGE family guy fan. Now listen carefully to the pronunciation of Whip when they talk about cool whip in this video clip....those old time Billy friends will remember WHI..ffle ball with Billy.

Now I am not privy to release a date or details yet but here are some clues about what we are cooking up...music, food , beer, ......the green monster.....and WHiffle ball!!!! .......and ....I'm thinking any money we raise that succeeds Billy's needs should be donated to a good cause. What are your thoughts on the benefactor to be the "Meriden Humane Society"?...or maybe to a program that would help someone in crisis like him???

You will always be a legacy,the stories to be told or heard are too many, the amount of time that you gave to all of us, in every way or aspect is unbelievable, one of a kind! If I could only hear you say Qunya,only 10 minutes late...give me a break! Wish I heard that now. Miss you immensely. JC's will never be the same.

UPDATE

The owners of Jc's Place Bar and the hall in the back are getting together to plan some type of event there to raise money to help with the expenses of Billy's final arrangements.
So far there are no dates. As I get word from them I will be posting here. Thank you for all your responses about raffle prize donations. Please pass the word on that we are looking...I can be contacted at: wnhhw@sbcglobal.net


In the Meantime...this is a good time to reflect on what this all means to us as our community. Let's all take alittle more care to stop and pay attention and make sure those we care about KNOW we care about them.

I believe very strongly that we NEED to make Billy's experience a lesson for us all to take to heart and pass on!

BILLY DID NOT die in Vain...He will always be in our hearts!

I know my purpose is to make a difference....I KNOW HE HAS ....AND HOPEFULLY THIS HORRIBLE, UNNECESSARY TRAGEDY WILL PRODUCE SOME GOOD...

dearest Billy friends,

It stinks to even be writing these words...but here is what I know so far. There should be an obituary this week. Billy's wish to become ashes will be carried out. A memorial WILL happen.

There are no funds for things to be proper in a way that Billy deserves. There are a few projects being worked on to raise money.

DOES ANYONE HAVE PICTURES OF BILLY ON HALLOWEEN DRESSED AS FREDDY MERCURY DOING THIS???

This blog has been created in memory of a very special friend who unfortunatly chose to leave us before his time. I cant imagine the sadness he must of carried in his heart to feel the need to go home like he did.

I hope to create a space here to honor his memory. Please help me by adding comments and pics. I will also be putting up a Myspace page so we can connect and share.
